In advance of Liveblog Discussion #2

Just a few housekeeping issues, as Stephen Fry would say. If any of you happen to be mentioning the Twook Club on Twitter, I’d appreciate if you could try and slip in the #twookclub hashtag so that we can keep tabs on the conversation going back and forth – we’re hoping to use it Tuesday night if people are participating from afar. Don’t forget to tell your friends that they can follow the liveblog here too! All are welcome. Contributions are important, but if people just want to have an eye in on the action with a view to contributing next time, that’s fine too.

Finally, since each attendee has been asked to bring piece/quote/line/address from a book that touched them, we would encourage those on the liveblog to share similar passages with us.

Please email me at dublintwookclub [AT] gmail.com if you need any more information between now and Tuesday night.

I’ll see you all at the liveblog!

Fancy Volunteering at your Local Library?

Folks,

I mentioned this on Twitter, anyone interested?

South Dublin Libraries are introducing a new volunteering programme providing opportunities for people to volunteer in a variety of roles within the library service. Sounds like something that would interest you? More info here.

They are trying to fill particular roles, but if you think you have something different to offer why not give them a bell or drop them a line and share your thoughts?

Dublin Twook Club features in the IT

Ok, everyone? This just got serious. Even the paper of record says so! We am posterity. Many thanks to one of our own (@RosemaryMacCabe) for including us in her piece in today’s paper.  It’s a great read on Social Meedja and the exciting things a happenin’ in the blogosphere both online and offline in Ireland right now. We at @DublinTwookClub are more than a little thrilled at  the idea that some of you have just stumbled upon our wee club over your cornflakes this morning and would like to extend a welcome to you, and ask you to feel free to grab a copy of Maus (see below!) and be ready to partake in our online discussion of the book on 25th August. If you have any suggestions/questions/queries just drop us a comment below or email dublintwookclub@gmail.com. It’s a pleasure to have you here!

Ciara 🙂

Fancy being on our blogroll?

Just leave a comment here and we’ll see what we can do! 🙂

ps. Attempting to pimp out our wee web home. Suggestions?

pps. On the group’s suggestion, have begun reading Maus. It’s truly blowing my mind, I never thought I would ever get anything from a graphic novel… but what can I say?! I’m a believer!

Final post before the first meeting!

Hello all! Hope these few lines find you all well, and that the book is long finished at this stage (going to be a late night for some, eh?!).

If any of you happen to be mentioning the Twook Club on Twitter, I’d appreciate if you could try and slip in the #twookclub hashtag so that we can keep tabs on the conversation going back and forth – we’re hoping to use it tomorrow night if people are participating from afar. Don’t forget to tell your friends that they can follow the liveblog on here on https://dublintwookclub.wordpress.com/ too! Gav will be behind the wheel of that tomorrow night.

Really looking forward to the interaction in the room and here on the blog. If you have any questions just wing me an email.

See you all tomorrow!

Ciara
